Photos are courtesy of: Kevin Seldon, a Great-Great Grandson of George Gardner Fourre and Frances
Elizabeth D. Fourre.

I have included his email with some additional information about George and his brother Richard.

My g-great grandfather lost the ends of 3 fingers at Laurel Hill at Spotsylvania.  Records say as result of a
miniball.   As I'm sure you know the 7th was pinned down by confederate fire that day west of the mule shoe.

His brother Richard lost a thumb exact same day.  Both had survived the battle of the Wilderness days earlier.

My grandmother (his granddaughter) had very vivid memories of him well up until her death 2 years ago at
age 96. George lived with my grandmas family towards the end of his life when my grandmother was a little
girl in Winona, MN.  I'm curious to see what info u have.  I still have his bible, obit and his GAR medal.  I'm
in touch with Richards great granddaughter and she's got some pretty solid documentation that when the 2
brothers were serving with the VRC that Richard was present as a guard during Mary Surratt's execution at
Ft. McNair.
